Tony Conway’s recipe for success came from knowing how to make a celebration larger than life. “Commitment to excellence, attention to detail and personal service is just part of it,” notes Tony. Tony’s path to the professional kitchen was always on the front burner. “My move from hotel catering to off-premise event planning was all about freedom. I spent my entire 20-year career in a ballroom,” he explains. “I was ready to get out and be in different venues, and take my creativity to new levels.”
From intimate dinner parties to throwing events for thousands, Tony Conway knows no bounds. So he started A Legendary Event in 1997, which has grown from a small catering concern to a multi-million full-service catering, event décor and floral enterprise.
Known for his extraordinary excellence when it comes to catering and event décor in and throughout the Southeast, Tony Conway is admired and respected by top CEOs, celebrities and politicians because of his attention to detail and penchant for providing fresh and uniquely exquisite culinary creations.
Tony spent his life and honed his experience in the hospitality industry. His background as Director of Catering and Conventions for Marriott Hotels, Stouffer Hotels and Ritz-Carlton Hotels has given him the experience, drive and culinary charisma to make his clients the star of their events.
Over the years, Tony has listened to — and won over — such clients as Delta Air Lines, Mercedes Benz, Tyler Perry, Jane Fonda, The Home Depot, Bloomingdale’s, Coca Cola, the American Cancer Society, Sir Elton John, and Toni Braxton as well as individuals who must stay anonymous. Although he has been privileged to create events for many well-known people, he considers all of his clients equally important. Every client is the celebrity during their event!
Tony is also committed to our community. Tony currently sits on the boards of the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Senior Citizens Services, Leadership Atlanta, Central Atlanta Progress, Alliance Theatre, Grady Memorial Hospital, Georgia Restaurant Association, and UNICEF (The United Nations Children’s Fund). On January 18, 2008, Tony was honored with the prestigious Special Event Lifetime Achievement Award for his indelible imprint on the special event industry landscape. Tony has also been honored with the Dale Riggins Humanitarian Award from the International Special Events Society and nominated as one of 11 Alive's Community Service Award Winners, 2012.
Tony is on The Board of Directors for Georgia Public Broadcasting. He has also chaired the American Cancer Society’s “Cattle Baron’s Ball,” UNICEF’s “Designs of Hope,” “Dining By Design” supporting DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS), Senior Citizens Services’ “A Meal to Remember,” Meals on Wheels and PALS’ (Pets Are Loving Support) “Rubbing Noses” event for two years. Tony was honored with the 1999 Dale Riggins Humanitarian Award from the International Special Events Society. Additionally, A Legendary Event has donated more than $10 million in services and contributions to a staggering array of organizations.
As a contributor to Sky Magazine, Atlanta Magazine’s Home, and Affluent, Tony has the opportunity to share his extensive knowledge of entertaining and provide tips and recipes to readers throughout the Southeast and around the world.
