A LEGENDARY EVENT WINS PRESTIGIOUS INDUSTRY AWARDS

A Legendary Event, a full-service catering, event décor and floral company, was recently named the winner of a prestigious award presented by the International Caterers Association. Winners of the annual Catered Arts Through Innovative Excellence Awards (CATIE Awards) were revealed at the CATIE Awards Gala on February 27, 2008.
A Legendary Event won the Best Plate Presentation showcasing A Legendary Event’s first course of DIFFA’s 2007 Dining By Design.
Best Plate Presentation
On Thursday, October 25, we unveiled an Avant-Garde menu for DIFFA’s Dining By Design held at a fine art gallery. DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) hosts the annual benefit each year, which is an opportunity for various corporations and designers to showcase their talents by creating monumental dining installations that will ultimately accommodate the 400 guests for dinner.
Each year, approximately 40 one-of-a-kind, and sometimes outrageous, dining environments are created throughout the venue. The effect of the eclectic blend of colors and styles is truly stunning.
Our menu not only had to complement the style of the event, but each course had to work well on each of the uniquely designed dining tables. One table may be set with rich, batik fabric under a Moroccan tent while another may be a long expanse of contemporary white granite.
In addition, some guests enjoyed a close intimate setting while others had the luxury of plush seating and extra place-setting real estate. Whichever the case, all of the dishes would be served to each guest on the same plate. Our executive chef treated the white plates as blank canvases and painted and sculpted them with beautiful colors and textures.
This prestigious, elegant dinner draws an eclectic crowd and warrants an upscale and extremely unique menu. Our goal was to present an out-of-the-box, five-star menu that would have guests talking about the cuisine as much as the table designs the next day. Our executive chef was not about to be outdone by tablescapes at this dining exhibition the food was going to be the star of the evening!

TONY CONWAY OF A LEGENDARY EVENT RECEIVES LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Global Special Event Conference Brings Event Professionals to Atlanta

The Special Event, the event industry’s premier conference and trade show, held its 23rd annual conference in Atlanta, January 15 -18, 2008. More than 7,500 attendees from around the world came together in the heart of the South. Tony Conway of A Legendary Event and Jim Cox of Presenting Atlanta served as the ambassadors for the conference.
The Special Event kicked off with a welcome party held at the New World of Coca-Cola. Attendees were impressed with the wintry special effects a beautiful snowfall that blanketed Atlanta’s beautiful downtown in sparkling white.
On the last evening of the conference, nearly 1,000 special event professionals were on hand to honor the winners of the prestigious Special Event Gala Awards. More than 35 Special Event Gala Awards were presented to event professionals from around the world. The black-tie ceremony and dinner was held at the Georgia World Congress Center. For 20 years, the Gala Awards have defined and recognized excellence for the most innovative and outstanding work in the special event industry.
The first Gala Award of the evening was presented to Tony Conway. Tony was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his indelible imprint on the special event industry landscape.
Tony was recognized for his 30 years of dedication to and excellence in the hospitality and special event industry. Tony began is career as Director of Catering and Conventions for Marriott Hotels, Stouffer Hotels and Ritz-Carlton Hotels, which gave him the experience, drive and culinary charisma to make his clients the star of their events.
“My move from hotel catering to off-premise event planning was all about freedom. I spent my entire 20-year career in a ballroom,” he explains. “I was ready to get out and be in different venues, and take my creativity to new levels.”
So in 1997 he started A Legendary Event, which has grown from a small catering concern to a multi-million full-service catering, event décor and floral enterprise, handling more than 1,200 events a year.
With a client list of Who’s Who in the corporate, social and charity markets, A Legendary Event is one of the fastest-growing, full-service catering, event décor and floral companies in the Southeast. Tony Conway’s recipe for success came from knowing how to make a celebration larger than life.
“Commitment to excellence, attention to detail and personal service is just part of it,” notes Tony. “Our entire team at A Legendary Event works together to make our gatherings memorable and meaningful, so guests will have something to talk about long after the party is over.”
Tony was also recognized for his commitment to the community. In addition to chairing numerous events, Tony currently sits on the boards of the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Senior Citizens Services, Leadership Atlanta, Central Atlanta Progress, Alliance Theatre, Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, Georgia Restaurant Association, and UNICEF (The United Nations Children’s Fund). Additionally, A Legendary Event has donated more than $8 million in services and contributions to a staggering array of organizations.
